How Do We Ensure That Innovation is Best Connected to Neighborhood Needs?
Yes, innovation can be driven by broad citywide initiatives, business needs and interests, or the types of open data that are available. But these starting points may not surface all of the most important interests and pressing needs of especially underserved neighborhoods. How can we best engage community members within the many disparate neighborhoods of Oakland to articulate the priorities for innovation that they see?

hi Susan, Thanks for your comment! I remember that 2013 CC session. I think the emphasis in this new suggested topic is a bit different. Whereas much of last year's discussion seemed to be about how to get community members included & engaged in an agenda set City-wide by policymakers and innovators, this is intended to orient the innovation inquiry more around select problems perceived by local residents and individual neighborhoods.
