GIS Maps that show air quality, air pollution, and community demographics.
I work for a non-profit that is trying to secure funding for school programs centered around air quality and climate change. One of the things we need to convince potential funders of is that the areas with the worst air are also the areas where communities of color are centered.

I like this idea and would be glad to help. I work with Quantified Self, a group of makers and users of self-tracking tools. We have access to tools and expertise in measuring air quality. (For instance, see this short video from one of our meetings where Erica Forzani shows her handy personal air quality sensor: https://vimeo.com/81504362) I'm interested in getting East Bay students, teachers, and staff involved in collecting and analyzing air quality data, so that we can support the scientific spirit "close to home." Happy to help if useful.

Though it's not a map, this site has a lot of data: http://scorecard.goodguide.com/ - so it might get you started.
